‘If you can do 50 to 60 percent of the job, you can do the job.’ The Ladies in Seattle Tech group is back with some good advice for women

Lisa Vanderbeck Weir spoke during a round of lightning talks hosted by Ladies in Seattle Tech (LIST), a Meetup group for women who work in tech in Seattle. The theme of the evening? “The best decision I’ve ever made for my career was…”

Lisa, who once taught writing at a community college and now works as the “director of sales enablement” for a Seattle-based tech company, offered some advice when it comes to the job hunt:

“Don’t read the job title, read the job description,” Lisa said. “If you can do 50 to 60 percent of the job, you can do the job.” She added that in the tech world, you can learn anything with time and curiosity.
