Ramps to Nowhere

Many Seattleites are familiar with the so-called “ramps to nowhere” in the Washington Park Arboretum, but their story is seldom told.   Minda Martin’s fascinating documentary tells the story of the successful grassroots movement in the late 1960s and the freeway revolt that stopped partially and fully funded freeways such as the R.H. Thompson Expressway almost 50 years ago.Based on priceless present-day and historical interviews with the citizens who fought back, Minda Martin’s film restores the ramps to nowhere to their rightful place as monuments to the power of protest.
