We’re feeling pretty good today. We just sent you our 100th Evergrey newsletter.
Since we sent our very first email to our beta group back in September, we’ve learned a lot about what you’re looking for in your morning read.
The top reason you read us? To feel more connected to where you live, according to 71 percent of you who filled out our survey over the holidays. Your other top reasons? To learn about things you can do in and around the city, to hear local perspectives you haven’t heard before, and to feel part of a community of Seattleites.
Our newsletter isn’t really a “news newsletter” and reads more like an “email from a friend,” you’ve told us.
You want it to be skimmable and easy to read. And you appreciate our sincere, positive tone: “Everyone knows what they hate, but not everyone knows what’s great,” one of you said.
And you’ve given us a lot of great feedback about what you’d like to see us do more of. For starters, you want more opportunities to meet in real life — both to help you discover Seattle in new ways and meet more curious Seattleites who also care about this city.
That’s why we hosted conversations between more than 100 of you on Inauguration Night, organized an Evergrey Field Trip to learn how to observe the city, and are taking a group of you down to Sherman County, Oregon, to meet people who think differently. Creating more ways for us to hang out in person is going to continue to be a big part of what we do, so let us know what ideas you have!
Other things you told us you’d like to see more of? More facilitation of online discussion between our readers; more original storytelling about cool things your neighbors are doing or interesting communities to plug into; and resource guides that highlight the best of the best to explore in our city.
