‘I had always wanted to move to Seattle.’ Settling down in America’s hottest housing market is easier said than done. Artist Gabriel Campanario’s been profiling new homeowners for The Seattle Times, and the stories run the gamut. His latest is about Caroline Collins, a full-time nanny who’s settling in to her $196,000 one-bedroom in Shoreline. A fun fact about our buses: If they’re less than five and a half minutes late, they’re considered “on time.” By that measure, our buses are punctual 77 percent of the time, though it doesn’t always feel that way. “Like almost all transit agencies,” writes transportation reporter David Gutman, “King County Metro approaches punctuality more like a dinner party than a job interview.” (The Seattle Times)

The holiday tune that got big here. The Dreidel song is a worldwide Hanukkah hit — and Seattle sang it before it was cool. Composer Samuel Goldfarb taught it to his community at Temple de Hirsch Sinai in the ‘50s, and the rest is history. Happy Hanukkah! 🎶 (KNKX)

Reader Priya took us up on our suggestion to warm up at the Volunteer Park Conservatory with all the summery cactuses yesterday. And she brought her baby boy, too. “We strolled some, learned some, and started hump day off right,” she wrote on Instagram. Awesome.
