The song we sang before it was cool 🕎

Thanks to reader Ian S. King for sending us this pic from a recent visit to one of his favorite hangouts, Hellbent Brewing in Lake City. "That's the brewer's dog snuggling with me," Ian writes, "and a Hellbent Citra IPA in my hand." Cheers.

SHOW US HOW YOU’VE STAYED COZY ☺️

All this month, you’ve been sharing pics of the books you’ve been curling up with, your giant scarves, bundled up pets, and festive fireplaces. We’ve loved seeing them and we want to see more.

Haven’t snapped a pic for the Cozy Challenge yet? Don’t worry, there’s still time. You have until 5 p.m. today to submit photos taken this month in Washington state using the #EvergreyChallenge hashtag.

We’ll share our five favorite pictures and repost them with credit on Instagram tomorrow. Once those are up, you can vote for your favorite by clicking the “like” ❤️  button. Whoever gets the most likes by Monday at noon will be our winner.

NOW HERE’S WHAT’S GOING ON IN YOUR CITY 🚌

‘I had always wanted to move to Seattle.’ Settling down in America’s hottest housing market is easier said than done. Artist Gabriel Campanario’s been profiling new homeowners for The Seattle Times, and the stories run the gamut. His latest is about Caroline Collins, a full-time nanny who’s settling in to her $196,000 one-bedroom in Shoreline. It may not be in Seattle proper, but it’s quite the upgrade from the 150-square foot University District apodment she used to live in. 🙌 (The Seattle Times)

What’s it like to work in tech when you’re not a guy? A group of your neighbors wants to know. They’re putting together an event to talk about what men can do to fight gender-based discrimination and harassment in the workplace. Want to help? Share your experiences — anonymously — here. Thanks to reader and organizer Sol Villarreal for the tip! (#MeTooSeaTech)

A fun fact about our buses: If they’re less than five and a half minutes late, they’re considered “on time.” By that measure, our buses are punctual 77 percent of the time, though it doesn’t always feel that way. “Like almost all transit agencies,” writes transportation reporter David Gutman, “King County Metro approaches punctuality more like a dinner party than a job interview.” (The Seattle Times)

The holiday tune that got big here. The Dreidel song is a worldwide Hanukkah hit — and Seattle sang it before it was cool. Composer Samuel Goldfarb taught it to his community at Temple de Hirsch Sinai in the ‘50s, and the rest is history. Happy Hanukkah! 🎶 (KNKX)

OUT AND ABOUT 🌵

Reader Priya took us up on our suggestion to warm up at the Volunteer Park Conservatory with all the summery cactuses yesterday. And she brought her baby boy, too. “We strolled some, learned some, and started hump day off right,” she wrote on Instagram. Awesome.
