NOW HERE’S WHAT’S GOING ON IN YOUR CITY 💡

The Internet’s not toast — yet. Yesterday, the Federal Communications Commission voted to repeal our country’s rules on net neutrality. Our governor vowed to fight the decision and maintain net neutrality laws across the state while our state attorney general said he plans to sue the FCC. “Allowing internet service providers to discriminate based on content undermines a free and open internet,” said attorney general Bob Ferguson. “Today’s action will seriously harm consumers, innovation and small businesses.” (The New York Times, The Associated Press, The Stranger)

Road rage. Us Evergreen Staters keep making these national lists for our driving habits. The latest one says our drivers are the fifth worst in the whole dang country, based on data from the Federal Highway Administration. Ahead of us: California, Minnesota, Utah, and South Carolina. 🚗  (The Seattle Times)

A highschooler’s take. Cleveland High student Elliott Hernandez Sebastian wrote a thorough and thoughtful take on gentrification affecting South Seattle neighborhoods. He writes about one Cleveland staff member who said he keeps a list of students “whose families had been pushed out by high rents and had to leave Cleveland because they didn’t live close enough to the school.” This is worth a read. (The Cleveland Journal)

Cast another vote here. You sent in your recs and now it’s time to vote for Seattle’s best neighborhood in round one of the 2017 Curbed Cup. So which do you love more: Greenwood or the Central District? Early results show it’s a tight race. (Curbed Seattle)

‘The best field trip in America.’ A group you might not expect to see at the cannabis shop? Seniors citizens. Folks living in Gig Harbor’s Sound Vista Village assisted living facility are occasionally bused to Vela in SoDo for “Cannabis 101.” After class, some seniors leave with jars of cannabis-infused balms for achy backs and feet, while others, one store employee said, “just wanna get super blazed.” (VICE)

NOW THAT’S A LOT OF SANTAS 🎅

You might be seeing a lot of Saint Nicks around this weekend. Why? It’s SantaCon 2017, y’all. More than 2,000 Santas — regular folks donning the iconic beards and jolly red-and-white suits — will be parading through downtown Seattle tomorrow and Sunday.

While you might have to do some explaining to the kiddos, this is bound to get the family in the holiday spirit.

Wanna dress up? Register here. Planning to watch? Be sure to tag us in your photos with #theevergrey.

See you next week. — The Evergrey
