NOW HERE’S WHAT’S GOING ON IN YOUR CITY 🌱

Want to grow weed in the comfort of your home? Well, you can’t. Not legally. At least, not yet. Washington, it turns out, is the only state that OKs recreational marijuana but isn’t cool with home grows. Think that should change? The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board is taking public comments on the idea, and you can email them at [email protected]. (The Stranger)

‘Watchdog reporting is part of our mission.’ Reporters Jim Brunner and Lewis Kamb had a busy year. They’re with The Seattle Times, and they were the first to tell us about the sexual abuse allegations that eventually brought down our mayor. For a behind-the-scenes look at their work, check out the questions they answered on Reddit yesterday. (Reddit)

Pro tip, pedestrians. You have the right of way on every Seattle intersection, period. No crosswalk, no problem. The only things you can’t legally do: dart into roadways when cars are coming or defy those “don’t walk” signals. (The Seattle Times)

‘I was not impressed.’ When our mayoral candidates debated housing and homelessness last week, Allen Benson paid attention. He’s homeless, he votes, and he didn’t hear much in the way of good solutions. “Homelessness is simple,” he writes. “Why ain’t it gone?” (The Stranger)

Whale hello there. Not every city can count orca whales as neighbors. Lucky us. This Facebook page will help you keep up with the latest sightings along the Puget Sound. (Facebook)
