King County Elections staffers spend HOURS with those ballots. šŸ™

NOW HEREā€™S WHATā€™S GOING ON IN YOUR CITY šŸŗ

Your periodic reminder that the two richest people in the world live here. Just over the bridge in Medina, to be exact. And their properties are on the same street. Forbes just put out its annual list of the top 400 richest people in the world, and Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos came in at first and second, respectively. One thing to note: Jeff is the only one of the top 5 richest people on the planet who hasnā€™t signed on to the Giving Pledge, an agreement by the worldā€™s wealthiest to give most of their moolah away. (The Stranger)

Youā€™re booked. Weā€™re the second most literate city in America, so the fact that we go nuts for tonightā€™s annual Lit Crawl should come as no surprise. Resident book nerd (and Evergrey reader) Paul Constant says the reading not to miss goes down at Elliott Bay Book Company at 7 p.m. ā€œIf [Eileen] Myles isnā€™t the smartest, funniest, most important poet in America right now, sheā€™s got to be right up near the top of the list.ā€ (The Seattle Review of Books)

Reviewing beer ā€¦ tap handles. The tap handle for Maritime Jolly Roger Christmas Ale is ā€œplayfully foreboding.ā€ And Fremont Lush IPAā€™s is ā€œboth stunning and regal.ā€ Yup ā€” someone actually reviewed not just local brews, but the handcrafted levers we pull to pour ā€˜em. (Seattle Weekly)

Whoā€™s endorsing who? The Seattle Times, The Stranger, and Seattle Weekly have all come out with endorsements for the election thatā€™s less than three weeks away. Donā€™t want someone elseā€™s opinion to help you figure out your own? Crosscutā€™s election guide comes with a quiz to find out which of the two mayoral candidatesā€™ ideas line up best with yours. You should be getting your ballot in the mail soon!

Next time you think you don’t have what it takesā€¦ A Jeopardy contestant from Lacey, Washington, won the game Tuesday night with just $1 ā€” ā€œthe smallest win in many, many years.ā€ TheĀ video will make your day. šŸ˜Š (Tribune Media Wire)

TOOTSIE POPS? REALLY? šŸ

This bulk candy company figured out the top Halloween candy in each state. And Washingtonā€™s is the Tootsie Pop. Apparently, we’ve bought 223,850 pounds of ’em for the trick or treat season. Why?

The world may never know. šŸ˜‰ ā€” The Evergrey
