Check out more costume pics by photographer Susan Fried on our Instagram, and this glowing review in The Stranger. Want to help more of your young black neighbors watch this flick on the big screen? Check out this campaign to take students at Denny Middle School in West Seattle to the movies.
Got a free night this week? Let’s help you make some plans…
👋 Swap seeds with green-thumbed neighbors (West Seattle)
🚴🏽 Do the Chilly Hilly, one of the best bike rides around (Bainbridge Island)
🚴🏽 …Or the Willy Nilly, a local spin-off (get it?) (Vashon Island)
Going to one of these? Send us a pic or tag #theevergrey. See more upcoming events (and submit your own) on our events page.
On Friday we told you about a poem 13-year-old Sumeya Block shared with us. Sumeya is an 8th grader at Seattle Girls’ School, and she wrote about the hijab she wears and how it inspires her — even when other people don’t understand her.
The link we sent Friday to Sumeya’s poem didn’t go to the right place. So here’s a better one. Check it out.
We came up with a map of some of our iconic Seattle spots that may be a little emptier than usual. Tourists aren’t exactly flocking to this winter grey. Their loss, your gain. 😉
Have a good one. — The Evergrey
