Speaking of seasons… the Fremont Solstice Parade is exactly three months away, and organizers are looking for some badass poster art. The annual parade is basically Seattle’s summer kickoff party, and it puts all kinds of wild, wacky things on display — like our famous naked cyclists. If you’re the creative type, this is a hell of a good chance to put your mark on one of Seattle’s favorite events. Plus, reader Darcy Joan Gabriele reminded us, “this is the *30th* anniversary, so it’s a big deal!” Want to give it a shot or know someone who should? Get those poster proposals in by Monday. Displaced. It’s not every day that we read such a candid and powerful essay from one of the (too) many people struggling to get by in this booming city of ours. Elizabeth Brico was born here, grew up here, and lived with her husband and two little girls in a poorly managed apartment building in Capitol Hill they could barely afford or tolerate. They left Seattle in February — they had to — and their story is heartbreaking. “Disabled, married with two kids, Latin-American, and on food stamps, I no longer fit into my home,” Elizabeth writes. “But I really, really wanted to.” (Curbed Seattle)

Here’s who’s coming to Upstream. When a brand new music festival named Upstream launched last June in Pioneer Square, it “felt delightfully integrated into the city itself,” according to writer Darren Davis. This year’s Upstream Music Fest and Summit just announced its full lineup: lots of local and regional acts, plus big names like The Flaming Lips and Jawbreaker. New noms. We dare you not to crave what’s coming in this list of Seattle’s 10 most anticipated new restaurants. We’ve got a hankering for Raised Doughnuts’ gluten-free treats and chef Hiro Tawara’s take on dining in the elegant Japanese kaiseki style. Here’s a fun fact for you: “Rick and Morty,” the sci-fi-ish cartoon show and “No. 1 TV comedy among millennials,” takes place here — “in Washington state- outside of Seattle” — according to co-creator Justin Roiland.
