Pancakes and booze and sumo and sushi 🍻

Pro wrestler Shane ‘Swerve’ Strickland showing some swagger in his match with Austin ‘The Belt Collector’ Aries at Washington Hall in the Central District. Thanks for tagging #theevergrey, AJ!

Reader AJ Riley took a hell of a photo at Washington Hall this month. He was at a show put on by DEFY Wrestling, a local indie wrestling org. And he loved every minute.

“I have fond memories of growing up and watching WWF matches and always wanted to experience it live,” AJ wrote us. “I’m not a fan of WWE these days, I never watch. But this feels totally different. Even if you don’t think you’re a fan of wrestling, I’d encourage anyone to check out Defy. It might just change your mind!”

Intrigued? DEFY’s next event goes down April 28 in Tacoma. They’re back at Washington Hall in the Central District on June 8. Here’s more on DEFY from The Stranger.

P.S. — Pro wrestling isn’t pro wrestling without some drama, so we should probably mention that though Shane “Swerve” Strickland thought victory was him, Austin “The Belt Collector” Aries ended up, well, collecting another one. 🏆

Up for an adrenaline rush this week, or something more chill? Wherever you’re at, let’s help you make some plans…
