🍫 Where the candy is dandy

We're still waiting for Theo to install a chocolate river.

What Seattle is talking about

Where the chocolatey magic happens. A tour at Theo Chocolate has long been a must-do for any Seattleite with a sweet tooth.

But now a visit to the Fremont factory isn’t just a tour, it’s an experience. For the first time in more than a decade, the artisan chocolatier has revamped and rebranded its tour to focus more on chocolate sourcing — and establish a safe distance between visitors and active machinery.

That doesn’t mean no chocolate, though. Participants still get to sample everything from just-roasted cocoa nibs to the finished product.

And if all that chocolatey goodness inspires you to unleash your Willy Wonka, better study up. Would-be guides are tasked with memorizing 70 pages of facts and figures about Theo’s business and the chocolate industry as a whole. 🤓

In other news…

Jeff Bezos is no longer the richest person in the world. Amazon stock took a tumble last week, a dip that caused roughly $7 billion of Bezos’ wealth to evaporate in a matter of hours. The title of richest person now belongs to that other tech billionaire in our backyard, Bill Gates. (GeekWire)

Last week’s wet weather wasn’t kind to our region’s pumpkin patches. Several Snoqualmie-area farms were affected, winter crops were damaged and the rain created a messy landscape of floating pumpkins. (KUOW)

Seattle Restaurant Week is here, and event sponsor The Seattle Times has several roundups to help you navigate the dozens of restaurants offering special prix fixe menus. This ultra-lean Eater list goes a step further and suggests their five best bets. (Eater)

It’s time to feel the local love

It’s our second week of our b-day membership campaign, and we’re keeping the fun going this week with a raffle for a special #LiveLikeYouLiveHere package, featuring a basket of goodies from a few of our favorite local businesses (courtesy of the Intentionalist) plus three pairs of tickets to any three classes of your choice at The Works.
