THE STORY: When Vishwa Gaddamanugu moved from Hyderabad, India to the Pacific Northwest he left behind family and friends. But what he brought with him was a serious passion for cricket. By some measures, it’s the second most popular sport in the world. When he arrived in the early 2000s, Gaddamanugu found a thriving cricket community that’s only continued to grow. Gaddamanugu has set up a cricket academy for kids, and he’s gotten involved with the Microsoft Cricket Club, a team that was started for Microsoft employees, but is now open to everyone.
QUOTABLE: “We can’t bring the whole family here. So what we could easily bring are some of the aspects that we’re used to.”
FUN FACT: Microsoft plans to include a cricket pitch in its upcoming campus renovation.
