What Seattle is talking about

Police and a city crew swept a camp at Cal Anderson Park on Tuesday morning. Activists and campers who are houseless have been occupying the Shelterhouse at the park since the end of CHOP. SPD reported there were seven arrests made after individuals repeatedly refused to leave the park, which remains closed. (Capitol Hill Seattle Blog)

A new report from the Office of Law Enforcement Oversight found the King County Sheriff’s Office review of the shooting of Tommy Le to be seriously flawed. The 2017 incident involved Le who was 20-years-old and King County Deputy Cesar Molina who responded to a call of a man possibly armed with a knife. The report found that investigators didn’t interview Molina until five weeks later among other things. (KUOW)

Hear from a Bike Brigade member herself. Started as a way to protect demonstrators from police, traffic, and counter-protestorsā€”the Bike Brigade forms lines to block streets and divert cars and pedestrians safely. The collective is made up of volunteers who hope to eliminate the need for SPD at various protests and demonstrations. (The Stranger)

Thinking of downsizing? How ’bout to a unit in your backyard? Detached accessory dwelling units (DADU) are growing in popularity and often are built as cottages to rent out or work studios. But this couple turned theirs into their new home with the guidance of Seattle-based firm Microhouse. (Seattle Met)

A six-month permit has modified traffic flow for two blocks of Ballard Ave. Plus five artists donated their time and resources to create art across the Ballard Blossom’s old graffiti-covered building. People can donate to the artists’ GoFundMe set up by the Ballard Alliance here. The Ballard Alliance had a hand in both projectsā€”by restricting traffic flow to one-way, they hope businesses can expand their outdoor seating. (MyBallard)
